Sunday 24th July 2011
Old Hill (10pts) 113-1 beat Lye 110 by 9
wktsThe Sunday XI hosted Lye in their Border League at Haden Hill which for once was played in brilliant sunshine.  Batting first Lye lost 2 early wickets, but a 55 run partnership between Webster(35) and Stanaway(38) looked to have set the visitors on course for a large total but Old Hill’s bowlers Dan Jones (2-19), Carl Whyte (4-26) and Nigel Davenport made sure that this did not happen as Lye were all out for 110 in 25 overs.  Old Hill’s reply got off to a poor start as opener Richard Sydenham (1) was out in the second over but this brought in Nigel Davenport (68 n.o.) to join Dan Cox (43 n.o.) and they saw the hosts to an emphatic victory with an unbroken century partnership as Old Hill reached 113-1 in 17.3 overs – a good day for Davenport with bat and ball.

Pedmore made a spirited reply with Wasseem (87), Riaz (57) and Cooper (53) being the main contributors to a total of 263 – 8 wickets off 40 overs. The match ended with the hosts total on 92 – 4 wickets off 24 overs, well short of their target score of 187. Old Hill won the game easily on a much superior scoring rate.

The Sunday XI batted first in their match against Belbroughton and scored 233 all out in 40 overs. Joe Thorn top scored with 77 and Dan Jones scored 30. After losing two early wickets the visitors set a cracking pace and had 105 runs on the board in the 14th over but wickets then began to tumble and with Belbroughton only fielding 10 players the last pair came together with the score at 198 – 8 wickets in the 29th over. They survived numerous bowling changes by the hosts to see the visitors home with an unbeaten last wicket stand of 38 runs. For Old Hill Nathan Davies (2 – 30), Nick Couzens (2 – 33) and Dan Jones (2 – 36) were the pick of the bowlers.
